Save the Light
There is a change here. The upsweep of current events has thrown even my most sensible of sensibilities into the wind. However, I look forward to the promise of tomorrow. The excitment of mailbox visits, and unexpected tidings. I look forward to the unknown. Xenophobe, I am not. Perhaps this update is a long time coming, perhaps, I still have little to say. I have only a few choice words for these end days, these moments on the edge of the earth. I say, "Come. Come, for I am still breathing. I am still moving. I am still working. I will not stop. I will not surrender. I will forge my life on the idealism of a girl who still believes in magic, and truth, and heart. So come here, come. I am ready to fight."
I raise my glass to the tomorrow days, the new days. I raise my glass.
spring
I can't believe it is already the end of April. Some things have definitely changed since my last post.
Such as...
I have decided to postpone grad school one more year (for various reasons I may disclose at a later date). This actually allows me to gather together a very thoughtful and cohesive portfolio. I am still looking at international schools, but have been really considering some programs in the South. Whatever the outcome, I am definitely ready for a new adventure!
My show W O N D E R is currently up at August in Mill Valley. The reception was only last night, and it was a blast. Louesa (the owner of August) is simply amazing. Her new store in MV is really beautiful, and I encourage everyone to visit. I finished a small group of bleach & dye works for the opening reception, but will be bringing in another large batch soonish.

Resolute
(Tentative Plans for the Month of January...)
I am applying to graduate school.
"Finally" right?
I will be applying to Camberwell College of Art within the University of Arts London. Camberwell is the fruition of careful thought and multi-faceted considerations (ie program offerings, location, length, costs, correlation to future plans, etc.). I admit to experiencing a certain amount of trepidation concerning this decision. The idea of "starting over" (in another country nonetheless) is both exhilarating and terrifying.
I am making a large order of Bones of Oakland (bleach work) for August's new Mill Valley location. There are about 26 pieces of clothing that I will be working on (lots of jeans, t-shirts, a few dresses, button-downs, and two halter tops). I divided the two BOO companies into separate sections on the site, so the clothing will be under the Bones of Oakland moniker now, and the jewelry will stay with Bones of Oak. I should be posting new photos soon.
As you may have noticed, the "Journals/Studies" sections are also now split. I spent yesterday uploading some of my favorite sketches from 2003 up until my current sketchbook. I am also working on uploading my journals onto www.1001journals.com.
I still have to nail down a date for my long-awaited solo show. I imagine that it will probably happen in March, but then again...
Good luck with your New Year Resolutions!
These are mine:
R1- Get into grad school
R2- Do not kill house plants
R3- "2009 Year of Destiny" dubbed (of course) by one Michael Rianda, will hopefully become a success (and not an inversely destructive force like all previous ambitiously-named years).
R4- Do not destroy any expensive electronics

Recent Show Updates:
"Under The Cover Of Trees" in Los Angeles will now be held from December 12th through January 9th. Opening and closing receptions at 7:00 PM at the L'Keg Galleries new headquarters, 311 Glendale Blvd. Visit www.lkeggallery.com for more info.
My solo show here in Oakland has also been pushed back. Although my timeline is still a little vague, I should be showing at "August" in February or March. I just started a really large (well, for me anyway) painting for the show. I have been toying with this idea of dreams and nightmares. I have also taken to watching as many of my favorite childhood movies as possible. (Thanks Dad) It turns out that I liked a plethora of very odd/creepy imagery from the 1970's/80's. There is this period of claymation work (1977-1985) that is terrifying, but as a kid I remember loving it. The world of classic Illustration was also pretty exceptional around then too with artists like Friso Henstra and Cooper Edens.
I read a really great bio about Edens a while ago on answers.com. It was such eerie timing for me, considering the ideas and themes I have been working with lately. It even encouraged me to make a small (and most likely regrettable) announcement:
I am writing a book.
Yes, I know exactly how that sounds.
All I can say at the moment, is that the book will most likely take the form of a classic fable. Currently, the rock-tumbler of a brain I have is clacking away.
I will keep you all informed...hopefully I will make some headway.
Sincerely,
S.Ingraham
October Baby
October is my favorite month of the year. This October, is especially hectic as I am currently swamped with a variety of projects.
I am pleased to announce that I am now selling the Bones of Oak jewelry at boutique 'Hannah Clark' in NYC www.hannah-clark.com. In addition, I will be making an indecent amount of new jewelry for Louesa at 'August' on College Avenue (in Oakland).
Speaking of 'August' http://augustshop.com...I will be having my show there for the month of November (and possibly December?), with more details to come. I hope that many of you will be able to come to the opening night.
On the note of other openings, I will be participating in a group show down in Los Angeles from October 24th - November 21st. The show title is "Under The Cover Of Trees", and Friday Oct. 24th is the opening night. It is being held at 'The Breakfast Club' 662 Heliotrope Dr, LA, CA 90004, and hosted by my good friend Walt! of l'Keg Gallery www.lkeggallery.com.
In addition to these wonderful art-adventures, I am also preparing to apply for my MFA this month. Oh yes, and Oct. 24th also happends to be my birthday...that too.
Love you all, I will keep you posted.
